The Year of the Ladybird is a fantasy novel set in Skegness, Lincolnshire, UK. It’s a ghost story set during the 1976 heatwave that also saw a huge migration of ladybirds, following the protagonist David as he secures work at a tourist resort in the town.

The book is a bit of a genre-bender, as it is both a horror novel (with a mysterious man in an electric blue suit) and a study of David, the decisions he makes (some of which lead into uncomfortable places) and the host of characters he meets along the way.

Because of this, I went with cover imagery that feels at home in the horror/ghost-story category, but also offers enough visual intrigue to make less horror-specific fans want to investigate further.

In the USA, the book was titled The Ghost in the Electric Blue Suit.
